The Colombo Chief Magistrate, Asanaga S. Bodaragama, today began examining evidence in the case filed by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against former State Minister Diana Gamage. She is accused of providing false information to the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration to obtain a passport and staying in Sri Lanka without a valid visa.
When the case was called, the charges were read out to Diana Gamage, who pleaded not guilty. The prosecution recorded evidence from Hansika Kumarasiri, a former officer of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, under the guidance of State Counsel Akila Dharmadhathuge.
The Magistrate fixed the next session for further examination of evidence on December 15.
