A total of 3,253 Sri Lankan youth have secured employment opportunities in South Korea during the first ten months of 2025, the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau (SLBFE) announced.
The latest group of 72 workers—qualified for positions in South Korea’s manufacturing sector—departed yesterday (29), including two young women.
These employment opportunities are facilitated under the E-9 visa category through a Memorandum of Understanding between the SLBFE and the Human Resources Development Service of Korea. Job placements are offered in manufacturing, construction, fisheries and agriculture sectors.
Applicants are selected through an online process to ensure transparency, with the recruitment examination conducted via the UBT system, preventing any external influence, the Bureau said.
Under the visa terms, workers are permitted to stay in South Korea for up to 4 years and 10 months, and those who complete their contract are eligible to re-enter for employment after returning to Sri Lanka.
