A meeting to review the progress of projects carried out by the National Youth Services Council (NYSC) during the past year was held today (28) at the NYSC headquarters. The meeting was led by Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Sunil Kumara Gamage and Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Dinindu Saman Hennayake
The discussion focused on the progress of projects completed this year and plans for future programs.
Minister Gamage said that more attention should be given to quality when carrying out NYSC projects and programs. He added that the government is ready to provide the necessary funds to ensure these projects are done at a high standard. The Minister also stressed the importance of following new global trends, especially when developing youth agricultural projects.
Deputy Minister Hennayake said that vocational training courses should not be limited to issuing certificates but should help young people gain real skills and career opportunities. He also said that a special program should be introduced to involve youth who are not yet members of youth clubs and that efforts should be made to identify and support talented young athletes.
NYSC Chairman and Director General Attorney-at-Law Supun Wijeratne, members of the Board of Directors, and heads of departments also attended the meeting.
