The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has updated the landslide early warning issued due to the prevailing heavy rainfall across the country. The updated warning will be effective from 4:00 p.m. today (28) until 4:00 p.m. tomorrow (29).
According to the NBRO, a Level 1 (Yellow) landslide early warning has been issued for several areas, urging residents to remain vigilant. The districts and areas under alert include Nagoda, Elpitiya, and Baddegama in the Galle District; Yatinuwara in the Kandy District; Kegalle, Mawanella, Yatiyantota, Aranayake, Dehiowita, and Rambukkana in the Kegalle District; and Kalawana, Eheliyagoda, and Ratnapura in the Ratnapura District.
The NBRO advises the public living in these areas to be cautious of potential landslides, slope failures, rock falls, and ground cracks, and to take necessary safety precautions to minimize risk.
