The Northern Province officially launched on-site traffic fine payments through GovPay at the Kilinochchi District Secretariat under the patronage of Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Ananda Wijepala.

Previously available only in the Southern and Western Provinces, the program is now being rolled out in the Northern Province as the third province to implement it. Since its launch elsewhere, 23,539 fines have been collected, generating Rs. 31 million.

Ahead of the rollout, police officers on traffic duty underwent training on 26 and 27 October. Mobile phones required for on-site fine collection were also handed over to the officers symbolically.
