The service extension of H.P. Niroshan, Director General of the Power Sector Reforms Secretariat, has been cancelled by Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody.
The extension, which would have added one year to Niroshan’s term, was initially approved by the Ministry Secretary while the Minister was abroad.
Energy Ministry sources confirmed that the extension was granted without informing Minister Jayakody, prompting him to instruct that the decision be revoked immediately.
