A three-day national event titled ‘Sri Lankan Day’ is scheduled to be held from December 12 to 14, covering the premises and main roads of the Colombo Municipal Council Grounds and Viharamahadevi Park, along with the surrounding areas.
The event will feature the participation of both public and private sector organizations, divided into four thematic zones. It aims to celebrate the country’s unity in diversity by showcasing the rich cultural, religious, and ethnic variety of Sri Lanka.
Proposed in the 2025 Budget Speech by the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, the programme seeks to foster harmony and understanding among all communities under the theme of creating a “Harmonious Sri Lanka.”
The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious, and Cultural Affairs has been entrusted with the responsibility of organizing and implementing the event.
‘Sri Lankan Day’ will highlight traditional foods from each district, local industries and handicrafts, cultural performances, and innovative product showcases, reflecting the nation’s creativity, heritage, and unity.
