A heated exchange took place in Parliament today after Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa claimed that two Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) union members had recently been harassed.
Premadasa said one member was assaulted, while data from another member’s mobile phone had been deleted.
Responding, Minister Kumara Jayakody alleged that one of the union members, reportedly from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), had tried to mislead onlookers with false claims. “He did so when my security personnel escorted him out of the CEB premises,” the Minister said.
Premadasa countered, insisting, “The Minister is making a false allegation, as there is no SJB union in the CEB.”
