Several train services scheduled to operate on the Upcountry railway line this morning (21) have been canceled due to a landslide near the Ihala Kotte railway station.
According to railway authorities, the heavy rainfall experienced in the area caused an earth mound to collapse onto the tracks, blocking the line and halting train movement.
As a result, seven train services, including the night mail train scheduled to run last night, have been canceled until further notice.
Repair and clearance operations are currently underway to restore normal train operations as soon as possible.
