Motorists in Sri Lanka’s Southern Province can now pay traffic spot fines online through the government’s GovPay digital payment platform, effective today.
The Police Department said the move comes after the system’s successful rollout in the Western Province earlier this year. Vehicle owners can now settle fines digitally, removing the need to visit police stations or post offices.
Officials noted that the expansion aims to enhance transparency, reduce delays in fine payments, and encourage the public to adopt digital services in government administration.
The online payment option is available through the official GovPay portal, where users can enter their vehicle and ticket details and complete payments using bank cards or mobile wallets.
