The Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) has arrested two individuals who allegedly assisted Ishara Sewwandi, a suspect wanted in connection with the killing of underworld figure Sanjeewa Kumara Samararatne, popularly known as Ganemulla Sanjeewa.
According to police, the arrests were made on October 16 and 17 in relation to the February 19, 2025, shooting at the Aluthkade Court Complex, where Ganemulla Sanjeewa was gunned down.
The arrested suspects — a 52-year-old woman and her 31-year-old brother-in-law, both residents of Wellipenna — are accused of assisting Sewwandi to evade arrest following the incident.
