Former Executive Director of the State Engineering Corporation (SEC), Nelu Wijeyadasa, has been arrested on charges of causing a financial loss of over Rs. 1.6 million to the government.
According to police sources, the arrest was made in connection with allegations that Wijeyadasa misused employees and property belonging to the SEC to carry out renovation work at the United National Party (UNP) headquarters, Sirikotha, in 2019.
He is scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
