Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Hemal Prashantha, Director of the Police Narcotics Bureau, has been transferred in connection with an ongoing investigation, Police Headquarters sources said.
The allegations against SSP Prashantha include misappropriation of Rs. 5 million meant for informants, administrative shortcomings, and failure to properly conduct drug raids over a three-month period. The Criminal Investigation Department has already launched an inquiry into the misappropriation.
The Police Commission was informed of the matter on September 25, and the transfer order was issued yesterday (15), officials said.
Police sources also clarified that reports circulating on social media about the transfer are completely false.
