The Sri Lanka Navy has recovered 51 packages containing illegal narcotics that were found floating in the seas off the southern coast. The parcels were brought ashore at the Tangalle Fisheries Harbour this evening (14).
According to the Navy, the recovered packages have been confirmed to contain crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’), hashish, and heroin.
The discovery was made during naval patrols earlier today, and the consignment was promptly handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation.
Preliminary reports suggest that the floating parcels may have been discarded by drug traffickers attempting to evade detection. The Sri Lanka Navy has launched a comprehensive investigation in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to trace the origin of the narcotics.
