It has been made mandatory for all foreigners visiting Sri Lanka to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) prior to entering the country.
According to reports, this requirement will come into effect from tomorrow (15). All foreign nationals, including those from countries previously eligible for a free tourist visa on arrival, must now secure the ETA before arrival.
Meanwhile, the United States has updated its travel advisory for Sri Lanka. The U.S. Department of State announced that it has entered the second phase of its advisory update, adding several new risk indicators.
The advisory urges travelers to exercise increased caution regarding potential civil unrest, terrorism, and landmine risks in certain areas of Sri Lanka.
