The Mount Lavinia Court has granted bail to the police constable accused of assaulting a lawyer near the court premises.
Bail was set on two surety bonds of Rs. 100,000 each, police said. The case has also been referred to the Mediation Board, and the next hearing has been scheduled for November 14.
The incident occurred on October 10, 2025, when the constable allegedly assaulted the lawyer while the lawyer’s car was being taken out of the Mount Lavinia Court complex. He was arrested by the Mount Lavinia Police Station and remanded in custody until October 13.
