The Deputy Leader of the Tamil Progressive Alliance (TPA) and MP V. Radhakrishnan stated today that the potential unification of the United National Party (UNP) and the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is an auspicious development for the future of the country.
Speaking to the media after a meeting at the party office in Hatton, MP Radhakrishnan urged everyone to support the ongoing discussions aimed at bringing the two parties together as a single political force.
He noted that both the UNP and SJB suffered defeats in the last presidential and parliamentary elections due to their decision to contest separately. According to him, a united approach could pave the way for electoral success in upcoming elections.
MP Radhakrishnan further emphasized that the people of the plantation sector continue to support both parties, acknowledging their initiatives to improve welfare and development in the region.
