Former Minister Wimal Weerawansa has informed the Tangalle Divisional Criminal Investigation Unit (CID) that he is unable to appear at the police station today (12) to provide a statement.
Weerawansa had been summoned to the Tangalle Division CID at 10 a.m. in connection with an investigation into a public statement he made, alleging that Beliatta Sanaa, who was arrested on drug-related charges, is an active member of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP).
The former minister had already provided a statement to the Tangalle Division CID on 9 October regarding the same matter. He has reportedly requested an alternative date to appear and provide his statement.
