The All Ceylon Small and Medium Scale Egg Producers Association has decided to reduce the price of eggs by Rs. 10, Secretary Hasitha Sandeepa announced at a press conference held yesterday (10).

He said the decision was taken to counter the alleged “mafia” of large-scale egg producers who are attempting to create an artificial shortage by hoarding eggs and withholding them from the market in order to raise prices.

Sandeepa warned that such actions are pushing small and medium-scale producers toward collapse. He emphasized that the price reduction aims to protect these producers and ensure fair market competition.

Accordingly, the Association has decided to sell white eggs at Rs. 18 each and red eggs at Rs. 20 each.
