The Bibilla Police have arrested a police sergeant who allegedly hugged a girl while under the influence of alcohol at the Bibilla bus stand.
Police said the suspect is a sergeant attached to the Kandaketiya Police Station. The arrest was made after officers received information that a man, reportedly intoxicated, was hugging a girl and behaving in a disorderly manner in public.
Responding to the complaint, a police team was dispatched to the location, where the suspect was taken into custody. Subsequent investigations revealed that the arrested individual was indeed a serving police sergeant, who had been on leave at the time of the incident.
