A 21-year-old hotel employee has been arrested by the Sigiriya Police for allegedly stealing US$950 and Rs.10,000 from a hotel room.
Police said the arrest was made following a complaint lodged by a 42-year-old Nepali woman who had been staying at the hotel.
According to police, the suspect had gained access to the room under the guise of performing his duties and stolen the cash, which amounts to approximately Rs.295,000 in total.
The suspect was taken into custody yesterday (10), and further investigations into the incident are underway.
