Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath attended the inauguration of the Grand Serendib Colombo project, Sri Lanka’s first AI-powered hotel initiative, held last night (10) at the Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.
The event also marked the 20th anniversary of ABEC, the company behind the project. Sri Lanka National Cricket Team Head Coach Sanath Jayasuriya and ABEC Premier Dilip K. Herath joined the minister in inaugurating the landmark venture.
Speaking at the event, Minister Vijitha Herath said, “The launch of this project is a significant investment in Sri Lanka, reflecting the growing potential of our tourism industry. By integrating artificial intelligence, this initiative will elevate Sri Lanka’s smart hospitality and tourism sector to a new level.”
The ceremony was attended by Member of Parliament Dr. Harsha de Silva, professors, diplomats, and academics representing both local and international universities, highlighting the project’s importance to Sri Lanka’s tourism and innovation landscape.
