Colombo High Court Judge Rashantha Godawela yesterday sentenced a 21-year-old bricklayer from Mannar to 10 years in prison with hard labor for trafficking the drug ICE.
The accused was arrested by police near the Eluthur Junction in Mannar on November 3, 2022, while transporting the illegal substance.
Following the arrest, the Attorney General filed charges against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act No. 1 of 2008.
Delivering the verdict, the High Court Judge stated that the prosecution had proven the charges beyond reasonable doubt.
