Employees at post offices in the Hatton and Nuwara Eliya districts hoisted black flags in front of their offices today (9) to mark World Post Day in protest.
Postal workers said the demonstration was held in response to a statement made by the head of the Postal Department, which they claimed was disrespectful and humiliating to them.
They further said that, instead of celebrating World Post Day, they chose to express their displeasure by raising black flags and wearing black armbands as a symbol of protest.
