A set of publications compiled by the Ministry of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation was recently (25th) handed over to the Parliamentary Library for reference and use.
Accordingly, the ‘Road Safety Action Plan 2025–2026’ was officially presented by the Commissioner General of Motor Traffic, Mr. Kamal Amarasinghe, to the Hon. Deputy Chairperson of Committees of Parliament, Mrs. Hemali Weerasekara, at her office.

In addition, based on the guidance of the Hon. Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation and Leader of the House, Bimal Rathnayake, the Department of Motor Traffic also handed over investigation reports related to six recent fatal road accidents.
These include:
• The fatal road accident that occurred on 2025.09.04 between 23Km post and 24Km post, near culvert 24/6, on the Ella–Wellawaya road.
• The fatal accident on 2025.06.21 at Thimbirigaspitiya, on the Badulla–Mahiyanganaya road.
• The fatal accident on 2025.05.11 at Garandiella, on the Nuwara Eliya–Kandy Road.
• The fatal accident on 2024.11.01 at Ambagahaoya, on the Badulla–Mahiyanganaya road.
• The fatal accident on 2023.01.20 on the Radalella–Somerset alternate route, on the Nuwara Eliya–Hatton Road.
• The fatal accident on 2020.01.06 on the Passara–Madolsima road.
Accordingly, the reports related to these incidents have now been officially submitted to the Parliamentary Library.
