The Supreme Court today granted permission to hear three Fundamental Rights petitions filed by former Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Director Shani Abeysekara and former CID inspectors Sudath Mendis and H.D.M. Premathilaka.
The petitions seek a ruling that their fundamental rights were violated when they were arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division in 2020 without sufficient cause.
After thorough consideration, a three-judge bench headed by Justice Mahinda Samayawardena issued the order to proceed with the hearings.
