The National Dangerous Drugs Control Board has announced plans to open three new rehabilitation centers for drug addicts before the end of this year.
The centers will be established in Matara, Kurunegala, and Batticaloa, with the capacity to provide treatment for approximately 120 people.
In addition, a specialized rehabilitation and treatment center for individuals under 21 years of age is planned for the Peradeniya area in Kandy. This facility is expected to commence operations in the first month of next year.
The move is part of ongoing efforts by authorities to expand treatment and support services for those affected by drug abuse across the country.
