The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning of severe lightning for the Northern, North-Central, Central, Eastern, and Uva Provinces, effective until 11:00 p.m. today.
According to the advisory, red alerts have been issued for 15 districts, while 10 districts are under amber alerts. The department cautioned that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely in several areas during the evening and night.
The public is advised to take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk of lightning-related incidents and to remain indoors during periods of heavy thunder and lightning.
