The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Technicians’ Union has warned that the restoration of over 30,000 electricity breakdowns reported across the country yesterday due to adverse weather will be delayed because of their ongoing work-to-rule campaign.
Union Chairman Kosala Abeysinghe said today that the trade union action has now entered its 31st day.
Abeysinghe noted that if the government responds appropriately, the breakdowns could be restored immediately. “Previously, we were able to restore up to 60,000 electricity breakdowns within 48 hours. However, due to the current work-to-rule campaign, restorations will take longer than expected,” he said.
