Three local youth groups who went to climb Narangala Mountain in Hali Ela were safely rescued last night.

The 112 Brigade Headquarters of the Army in Eladaluwa, Badulla, carried out the operation. The group, which included 21 young men and one young woman from Negombo, Nugegoda, Maharagama, Kosgoda, and Pannipitaya, became stranded on the mountaintop yesterday afternoon (04) due to heavy rains and strong winds, according to the Disaster Management Center.

The army initiated the rescue operation around 9 pm and successfully brought all members down to the foot of the mountain within approximately two hours, despite challenging weather conditions.
