The bulletproof vehicle provided for the security of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been returned, according to his media spokesperson, Attorney-at-Law Manoj Gamage
Issuing a special statement, he said the vehicle was handed over yesterday (3) through the relevant company. He noted that following the enactment of the Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Act, the Presidential Secretary had informed on September 24 that all official vehicles and the official residence of the fifth Executive President must be returned.
Gamage added that the passenger vehicle used by the security personnel attached to the former President was also returned.
He warned that the current situation has placed Mahinda Rajapaksa’s life at risk and announced plans to meet with the Inspector General of Police, the Defence Secretary, and the heads of the security forces next week to request the necessary vehicles to ensure the former President’s safety.
