Wildlife officials are providing treatment to a calf that was shot near the Phosphate Reserve in the Konwewa area of Anuradhapura.
The male calf, nearly one year old and 3 feet 10 inches tall, had sustained a gunshot wound to its right front leg near the elbow, leaving it unable to walk, eat, or drink for several days, authorities said.
The calf has received initial medical care, and a team including veterinarian Udeshika Madhuwanthi from the Pandulagama Wildlife Veterinary Office is monitoring its condition and providing ongoing treatment.
