President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who is on an official visit to Japan at the invitation of the Japanese Government, met with Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, Founding Chairman of the Nippon Foundation, at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo this morning.
Discussions focused on strengthening the long-standing friendship between Japan and Sri Lanka. Mr. Sasakawa reaffirmed his commitment to improving the livelihoods of all communities in Sri Lanka and outlined future plans to renovate and modernize 100 schools in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
President Dissanayake expressed his gratitude to Mr. Sasakawa for his longstanding dedication to social service in Sri Lanka and his efforts to support the development and well-being of the Sri Lankan people.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath, along with senior officials, also joined the meeting.
