The Federation of University Teachers’ Associations (FUTA) has announced that it will launch a strike tomorrow (30), citing the government’s continued failure to address longstanding issues within the university system.
FUTA Secretary, Senior Lecturer Charudath Ilangasinghe, made the announcement today (29) at a press conference, stressing that university lecturers have been compelled to take trade union action due to the authorities’ inaction.
He noted that despite repeated discussions, key concerns of university academics remain unresolved, leading to growing frustration within the sector.
The strike is expected to disrupt academic activities in universities across the country.
