Maligakanda Magistrate – Janitha Perera today (Sep. 25) ordered to arrest and produce 08 Director Board members of Asiri Medical Hospital including the Chairman – Ashok Pathirage.

After considering a request by the Attorney General, the Magistrate made the order as the hospital Board had ignored a previous order by the Maligakanda Magistrate to appear before court.

The hospital has currently pleaded guilty to selling 11 drugs beyond the MRP set as per the National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) Act. 

The respondents in the case (No. 52624/23) include the hospital’s directors – Vishal Bali, Ashoka Kariyawasam Pathirage, Ankur Nand Thadani, Karunamuni Manjula Prasanna, Sudarshan Ahangama, Gardiyar Lokuge, Harris Premaratne, Sivakumar Sellaiya, Haresh Kumar Kaimal, and Ajith Karunaratne – along with Assistant Billing Manager B.D. Sadathisaru.

However, as notice had not been properly issued to Mr. Bali, he was ordered to appear in court when the case would be taken up again
