Several trade unions of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have decided to temporarily suspend the strike action that was due to commence tomorrow (25), citing ongoing discussions with the government.
Union representatives stated that the decision was reached after authorities agreed to initiate talks regarding the workers’ demands.
The unions had initially launched a work-to-rule trade union campaign on the 4th of this month, pressing for solutions to a series of issues.
While the strike has been suspended for the time being, the unions confirmed that the work-to-rule campaign will continue without interruption until a final resolution is reached.
