The Colombo High Court has scheduled the hearing of a case filed by the Bribery Commission against former Minister Mervyn Silva for allegedly acquiring assets and property illegally during his ministerial tenure.
High Court Judge Mohamed Mihal announced that the case will be taken up for hearing on November 17.
When the case was called today (24), the Bribery Commission handed over several documents related to the case to the defense. The Commission also requested the court to fix a date for the hearing, which the judge accepted.
According to the Bribery Commission, the former Minister is accused of illegally amassing assets valued at nearly Rs. 150 million, exceeding his lawful income, during the period 2010 to 2012, while he held ministerial office. The charges have been filed under the Anti-Corruption Act.
