A cache of bullets has been discovered at the site designated for the upcoming International Cricket Stadium in Jaffna, located in the Mandaitivu area, where construction is currently underway.
The discovery was made during site clearing operations on Saturday, September 20, when workers found a quantity of R-56 type bullets concealed inside a pipe on the premises.
Following the find, the Point Pedro Police were alerted and subsequently sought approval from the Point Pedro Magistrate’s Court to proceed with the recovery. The bullets were officially unearthed on Sunday, September 22, under court authorization.
