A lorry transporting a large quantity of narcotics, including approximately 200 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as Ice) and heroin, has been seized by police during a special operation in the Tangalle area.
According to police, the vehicle was intercepted based on intelligence received. Upon inspection, authorities discovered the narcotics concealed within the lorry, along with four revolvers hidden inside the drug packaging.
The operation was launched following the discovery of two bodies at a residence in the Seenimodara area. A third individual, who had also been present at the house, had fallen critically ill, was admitted to Tangalle General Hospital, and later passed away.
Investigations have so far revealed that the property in question had recently been sold to a new owner, who had employed three workers to construct a boundary wall around the premises.
It is reported that the workers had held an alcohol-fueled gathering at the residence the night before the incident. One of them fell seriously ill following the party and was rushed to hospital.
Acting on a tip-off from one of his relatives, police conducted a search of the property and uncovered the two bodies at the site.
