Police have arrested a foreign national in the Salmal Uyana area of Weligama with a stock of suspicious chemical substances in his possession.
The suspect has been identified as a Moldovan national who had been residing in a rented house in the area. Authorities said the purpose of the chemicals in his possession has not yet been established.
The substances have been referred to the Government Analyst for examination. Police confirmed that further investigations into the suspect and the chemicals are currently underway.
