The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has named 41 high-ranking officials, including a Cabinet minister, former governors, state ministers, ambassadors, senior diplomatic staff, and judges, who failed to submit their asset and liability declarations for last year.
According to the amended list of non-declarants, former Cabinet Minister Douglas Devananda and six former State Ministers—Tharaka Balasooriya, Shantha Bandara, Kader Masthan, Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, Surendra Ragawan, and the late Lohan Ratwatta—did not hand in their declarations.
The list also includes four former governors: Roshan Goonetileke, Senthil Thondaman, Navin Dissanayake, and William Gamage.
CIABOC further revealed that at least 28 senior diplomatic staff, among them eleven ambassadors, deputy permanent representatives, high commissioners, and ministers, are among the non-declarants, in addition to two former judges.
Under Section 80 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 9 of 2023, all public officials and officeholders are required to periodically declare their assets and liabilities within and outside Sri Lanka.
