A tragic incident has been reported from the Hapudanduwala area in Dambagahapitiya, Ududumbara, where a mother is suspected to have poisoned her three children and herself.
According to police, the 32-year-old woman has died, while her three sons—aged 12, 10, and 5—are currently receiving treatment at the Ududumbara Regional Hospital. Hospital sources confirmed that the children are in stable condition and there is no immediate threat to their lives.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the woman’s husband, aged 34, died just two days earlier due to leukemia. It is also reported that all three children are suffering from the same illness.
Police said that the deceased woman had been undergoing treatment for a mental health condition at the time of the incident.
Ududumbara Police are continuing their investigations.
