The Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) has filed indictments against Ramith Rambukwella, son of former Minister Keheliya Rambukwella, before the Colombo High Court.
According to the indictment, Ramith acquired assets and properties valued at over Rs. 296 million between January 1, 2022, and November 14, 2023, during his father’s tenure as Minister of Health. Out of this, he has failed to disclose the source of assets worth Rs. 275 million.
The undisclosed assets include two luxury houses valued at Rs. 80 million and Rs. 65 million in a high-end housing complex on Dharmapala Mawatha, Colombo 07, a Discovery Jeep worth over Rs. 18 million, and several other properties. CIABOC further revealed that four bank accounts in Ramith’s name and another four under his wife’s name held substantial deposits, including fixed deposits.
Ramith, who also served as his father’s private secretary during this period, has been charged under the Prevention of Corruption Act for failing to declare the means of acquiring the wealth.
The case will be taken up before the Colombo High Court.
