The Nugegoda Magistrate’s Court today (12) ordered the release on bail of Ven. Athuraliye Rathana Thero, who had been in remand custody.
The Thero was granted bail with two sureties of Rs. 500,000 each and a cash bail of Rs. 10,000.
He faces charges of allegedly abducting and threatening Ven. Wedanigama Wimalatissa Thero, the General Secretary of the Ape Jana Bala Party, in connection with obtaining the party’s National List parliamentary seat during the 2020 General Election.
