In a separate development, a 17-year-old youth was arrested for allegedly assisting in the shooting incident on August 22 in the Sevalipura area of Borella. The youth is a resident of Aaramangoda, Buthpitiya.
Police Officer Arrested Over Links With Organized Criminal; Two Others Detained in Shooting Incidents
A police officer attached to the Gampaha Crimes Investigation Unit has been arrested over alleged connections with organized criminal figure Mandinu Pathmasiri, according to reports.
Meanwhile, police confirmed that two other suspects have been taken into custody in connection with separate shooting incidents.
One suspect was arrested in relation to the killing that took place on August 24 along Malani Bulathsinhala Mawatha in Boralesgamuwa, where a man was shot dead. Investigations revealed that the suspect had been the driver of the three-wheeler used in the crime. The arrested individual is a 22-year-old resident of Mt.Lavinia.
Police say further investigations are underway.
