Parliament was adjourned for ten minutes today (11) after opposition members staged a protest against a decision made by Speaker of the House Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.

The uproar followed the Speaker’s ruling regarding the No-Confidence Motion submitted against Deputy Minister of Defence, Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd.). Opposition MPs demanded that the Speaker disclose the specific reasons behind the dismissal of the motion.

Amidst heated exchanges, the session was temporarily suspended to restore order.
