A British national, Amy Victoria Gibb, was honored in Parliament on Tuesday for her courageous response to the Ella–Wellawaya bus accident on September 5.

Recognized by the Ministry of Tourism, Gibb provided vital medical assistance and comfort to injured passengers until emergency services arrived. The Deputy Minister of Tourism said the gesture reflected Sri Lanka’s gratitude, noting that “her selfless actions remind us that humanity knows no borders.”

The ministry added that her recognition highlights the role of ordinary individuals who rise to extraordinary challenges, embodying the spirit of global solidarity.
