The Colombo Magistrate’s Court today ordered the remand of a suspect until September 10 for allegedly videotaping the motorcade of the Chief Justice.
The suspect, arrested by Kurunduwatte Police, was produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanka S. Bodaragama. Police informed the court that investigations are ongoing and requested an order to send the suspect’s mobile phone to the Government Analyst for examination.
The suspect’s lawyer told the court that his client apologized for taking photographs of the motorcade and sought bail.
After considering the submissions, the Magistrate ordered that the suspect remain in remand custody until the 10th and directed that the mobile phone be forwarded to the Government Analyst with a report to be submitted.
