A passenger arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) after officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) uncovered a large stock of Kush narcotics valued at Rs. 260 million.
The narcotics were detected during a baggage inspection near the airport’s arrival conveyor belt, with the assistance of the Bureau’s sniffer dog Max. Following the detection, the suspect was identified and taken into custody.
According to police, a total of 20 kilograms and 900 grams of Kush, packed into 19 parcels, were found concealed in the suspect’s luggage.
The seized narcotics and the suspect will be produced before the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.
