Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath departed for Geneva, Switzerland, this morning (07) to participate in the 60th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
The Minister is scheduled to address the Council tomorrow and will also hold a meeting with United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk. In addition, Minister Herath is expected to engage in discussions with Permanent Representatives of several member states to the United Nations.
Director General of the United Nations and Human Rights Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dayani Mendis, is accompanying the Minister on this official visit.
The delegation will remain in Geneva until the 11th of September.
